Fuck Yeah Disneyland-Obsessed Warthog

So here's my story - my family are cursed. We have a reputation among our friends for causing rides to break down, because pretty much every time we're on a ride, something goes wrong. We've broken down Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, the Haunted Mansion (three times in one go), Astro Blasters, and we've even managed to cancel the fireworks once, just to name a few.

we took my autistic foster brother for the first time to WDW this November. He fell in love with Minnie Mouse and every time we passed her we'd have to get her autograph and he would hug her for about five minutes. He didn't stop smiling all week.

when my mom was little, she cried on every ride till her parents took her on small world. when i was little, my mom and dad tried to take me on every ride, even alice in wonderland, and i cried every time. they took me on small world, and lo and behold i didn't cry once and was laughing the whole way through. like mother like daughter..?

Disneyland California - Indiana Jones Refurbishment

Disneyland has confirmed that its popular Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye attraction will close for a lengthy refurbishment period on September 4, 2012.

The ride is not expected to return to action until December 8, in time for the busy Christmas period. The downtime will give Disneyland a chance to revive some of Indiana Jones Adventure’s special effects, a number of which have been in decline in recent years.

First opened in March 1995, Indiana Jones Adventure sees guests boarding jeep-style vehicles that are attached to a motion simulator base. They then race off into the darkness of the mysterious Temple of the Forbidden Eye, in search of three gifts on offer from the ancient god Mara.

Set pieces during the ride’s circuit include giant snakes, rats, a rolling boulder and an encounter with the disfigured Mara himself. The ride also features an innovative introductory scene, in which the jeep appears to select one of three hallways, each resulting in a different gift from Mara being bestowed on riders.

I’m doing research for Part 5 of my Marchmouse fic, and since I haven’t been to Disneyland since I was a baby, I’d love it if you could answer a question for me.

What are your favorite Disneyland sights? They don’t necessarily have to be rides or attractions. What sights stir up fond memories in you or just make you smile while you’re walking around?

Storybook Land. I enjoy all of Fantasyland but Storybook is a special place for me. Partly because I got to ride with Alice and Hatter quite a few times, and partly because I worked there. It was some of the most fun I had while working at the parks .

Haunted Mansion and New Orleans Square are my favorite places to be in the park. I absolutely love the Rivers of America, I love the architecture and Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride ever.

Surely there are a few Warthogs out there who wish to contribute! This Warthog’s favorite place is definitely New Orleans Square/Adventureland, especially near the Rivers of America, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The River Belle Terrace. If he could, this Warthog would retire to the Dream Suite and spend the rest of his days there!

I come from a Disneyland family that's been to Disney World a handful of times. One of the strangest differences between the two is the sheer number of first-timers at Disney World. My sister and I were the only two reciting the stretching room lines until my husband shushes us.

I have some very exciting news. The CALIFORNIA letters are going to be moved up to Sacramento California. Cal Expo, which holds the state fair and was originally bought for the “northern California Disneyland” is going to be the new owners of the Letters. I am so excited because that means I get to see them everyday as Sac is where I live. I cried when I found about this because the letters were my favorite because it was the first thing I saw walking into California Adventures on opening day back in 2001. I am just so excited and now everyone needs to come visit!! :)

Ok, so I thought I would share a story. The first time I went to Disneyworld I was 8, and my family and I had dinner at Cinderella's castle, so I decided to dress up as Sleeping Beauty. When Cinderella came in, she greeted me, and got down on one knee and complimented my dress, saying that I "looked like her best friend Sleeping Beauty." It was probably the best moment of my entire life, and now, so many years later, I still haven't forgotten it.

On a field trip to magic kingdom, I bought a Lotso bear (which really does smell like strawberries) and carried it around the park all day. A pirate near the pirates of the Caribbean ride would stop me every time I walked by to smell him. :) I eventually took a picture with him

We feel your pain. It’s been much too long since these warthogs have been there, either. :(

My best friend an I have a Haunted Mansion tradition. Everytime we enter the elevator room, we step to the "dead center" of the room (we're obediant that way). Then, when we are offered that oh-so-chilling challenge and the lights go off, we cackle as evilly and manically as humanly possible. When the lights come back on, we take a look around to see how many people we've freaked out with our addition to the soundtrack. Always at least a few, and we take great pride in that.
